Bad Cops

We have just created this new topic, but we will note at this point that our intent is to document the much too prolific incidents of law enforcement gone wrong in South Florida (the law enFARCEment problems seems to feed off of the fact that southeast Florida is the most corrupt region in the most corrupt state in the nation) that we observe news reports on, which of course will not be all that occur, because some of it simply goes unreported. "Bad for tourism" you know...

Check back, some of it is interesting, much of it is disgusting, but all of it is informative and even essential knowledge if you for some reason must visit here... For example, an officer was recently arrested for fondling women during traffic stops, and we will make that our first sad example of bad Florida cops, below...

Miami Cop Stops Teen Girls and Molests Them

  • Miami Cop Arrested for Fondling Two Teen Girls During Traffic Stop. "The Miami-Dade Police Department has arrested one of their own for molesting numerous young women while on the job. 24-year-old officer Juan Carlos Rodriguez was charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation stemming form an incident in which he fondled two teenage girls during a traffic stop in [Miami], but investigators believe more young women may have been abused." • SoFla Cops Frame Motorist for Accident they Caused

  • We did not make this up, but some Hollywood Florida police officers did make up a "Walt Disney" story (their words) after they accidentally rear-ended another driver's vehicle with their patrol car, and blamed it on the other driver. They had their in-car video camera on and taped their discussion of how they were going to "Disney it up" to escape the blame for what they did, and instead arrest an innocent citizen. For proof, here is a link to "Ex-Hollywood Cops Plead Not Guilty to Walt Disney Frame Up". Note that this link is to an article about the cops -- which video'd themselves committing a crime -- pleading innocent. Yeh, sure, the video was wrong of course... Hey, everything in Florida is dizzily Disney-ized...

  • SoFla Cops Shoot a Black Man Once a Month

  • And if you think being framed by Florida's bad cops is outrageous, realize that as of mid February of 2011, seven African American men have been shot by police under questionable circumstances in the last seven months just in Miami alone. That's one way for the Hispanic population to gain ground on blacks... Seriously, frame-ups and "questionable" shootings by bad cops in SoFla are just the tip of proverbial iceberg. Check back for updates... Link to "Seventh fatal shooting involving the Miami Police in seven months.".

  • SoFla Cops Use Arrest Warrants for Kleenex and Toilet Paper

  • Quotes from a recent article: "Authorities in Broward and Palm Beach counties have a combined total of about 275,000 active arrest warrants. In many South Florida cases, people officially listed as wanted by authorities aren't being pursued at all, and if they are found, may not be arrested." Although local law enforcement officials state that the number of arrest warrants far exceeds their ability to find and apprehend suspects, we have to wonder whether or not they are even trying, as we observe officers in the act of doing absolutely nothing -- even with the appearance of goofing off -- far too many times when we venture out, and they are always observed in areas of low or no crime (like the beach) but never in or near high crime areas (blighted, impoverished areas). we are not against officers taking a break and having a pleasant avocation, especially if they served in war zones overseas. We also feel that it is likely difficult to be aggressive about rounding up criminals when the commissioners of the same aforementioned counties of Broward and Palm Beach just released 18,000 hardened criminals from prison to save money to have more money for their bridge-to-nowhere kickback projects, and their high salaries and platinum benefits of course. • He may be innocent but imprison him anyway

  • This isn't so much about bad cops as it is about "the system", but then too there is that little fact that people that are wrongfully convicted had to be arrested by a cop to be wrongfully convicted. Anyway, obviously innocent Floridians tend to get thrown in prison without any apparent logic. For example, a Florida man was convicted -- by jury -- of a gas station robbery, despite a time card and his boss placing him at his janitorial job at the time of the robbery and despite the fact that he didn't match the robber's description. The victim's since-disbarred attorney failed to raise a single objection during the case and attempted to enter the wrong time card into evidence. Realize that this problem is so prevalent in Florida, that the "Victims of Wrongful Incarceration Compensation Act" was passed to compensate those wrongly jailed. A good reason to avoid Florida... • Miami Police Chief and Mayor Feud like Ninnies

  • This is not so much about "bad", as it is more like "embarrassing", which is kind of bad in a way. The New York Times did an article about the bad relations between the mayor and police chief of Miami (both Cubans of course). A couple of quotes from the article follow, and the link to the article follow the quotes. Only in Miasma... "Miami’s mayor has accused the city’s Police Department of conducting surveillance on him. After spotting a suspicious car outside his home, he declared that he felt very threatened." "The police chief has accused the mayor of improperly trying to disrupt a covert investigation into illegal gambling." Link to article about much too typical south Florida.

Until we can get back to this, we recommend "Kick Ass" and "Paradise Screwed" by Carl Hiassen, books which compile his articles that appeared in the Miami Herald, and as the titles infer, the articles do not hold back on "telling it like it is" about good ole bad-assed unethical, corrupt, and embarrassing bad cops of south Florida (to you "good guys and gals out there sorry about generalizing)...
