Videos of Daily Life on a Subtropical Atlantic Coast Barrier Island

Boats

Mar 21st, 2009 by jeb

.

We have added this category on boats, boating, and fishing at the request of visitors noting our oversight in omitting the popular activities. We are initially just plopping in whatever videos we already happen to have with boats in them, but will get around to posting many types of unusual and even strange boats that traverse the waterways of South Florida as well as delving into local fishing. Note that with the down economy and high fuel prices, area boat traffic has noticeably decreased, making it even more difficult to capture these videos. If you happen to be in the market for a boat in this area, right now is a good time to buy - click on this link for a listing of dealers and brokers, and you might also try Craigslist. Click on this link for boating information in the Fort Lauderdale area.

It's a tough life, but somebodies gotta make those drawbridges go up and stop vehicular traffic to burn up fuel -- probably an oil company exec...

Speaking of drawbridges, they go up and boats pass thru...

The "idle speed" sign is intended to slow down boat traffic in an area frequented by West Indian manatees (the sign is lopsided because it was hit by a boat that lost control because it was going too fast).

Sailboat Regatta

Regattas and even "heavy traffic" used to be a common sight on windy weekends, but is rare these days, likely because of the economy and the price of fuel...
