Dogpoop Beach

This page specifically addresses the city of Hollywood Florida and it's dogged dog beach. The local whiz-bang gourd-heads opened up a specified section of the beach to dogs a few months ago, charging dog owners a fee for a permit to let their dogs poop and pee and fight and procreate on the beach and in the ocean waters (why not, there are no "rest room" facilities for miles on Hollywood beach and people poop and pee and procreate on the beach and in the ocean waters too). Of course, the dog owners also must pay for parking on the beach. Their supposed ill-logic for allowing the beach to go to the dogs is that doing so would bring more people to the beach, therefore generating more revenue for the city, at the expense of other beach-goers and naturalness of the beach... KACHING!

We have observed that, although dog owners have always walked their dogs on the beach in defiance of an ordinance banning dogs on the beach and have gotten away with it due to the police being instructed to be lax in enforcing the dog law, since the inception of the legalized dog beach the dog owners have taken even greater liberties with the law, and are still getting away with it, with even pit bulls roaming free on the beach without a leash (see video below). Only one small designated area of the beach is legally open to dogs, only on weekend evenings, only for a couple of hours -- but dog owners are increasingly violating these restrictions such that several violations of the law can be observed on just one walk along the beach.

What we intend to do here is to post videos of the aforementioned violations for the perusal by the city of Hollywood folks and the Hollywood police. We should be able to capture a video of the policionadoes driving right past dog walkers and ignoring enforcement of the dog law, unless they get wind of this web page. This should be interesting...

We have also created petitions to present to the Hollywood police in hopes that they change their look-the-other-way stance and begin to enforce the laws prohibiting dogs running loose outside of the designated area. Click on this link to the iPetitions dogged beach petition and this link to our Petition Online petition.

Footnote: although Dade county (the Miami area) has a ban on vicious attack dogs (rottweilers, dobermans, pit bulls, boxers, bulldogs, bull mastiffs, etc.) Broward county is lackadaisical in this respect and allows them to run the streets, and the dog beach. This seems detestable since the number of people mauled and killed by these dogs is much too high in the area.

A nice peaceful walk on the beach?

Yapped at by stupid little animals, owned by arrogant, inconsiderate people. They are in clear violation of the dog law, not anywhere near the designated dog beach, not a designated day, not the designated time of day, and the dogs are not even on a leash, just running around loose intimidating innocent people out for a walk (small aggressive dogs like these are documented to attack larger dogs and even bite people). Where were the cops? Buzzing all over the beach in their noisy, smelly ATV's, ticketing lovely ladies sipping on expensive wine out of expensive hand carved crystal glasses for violating the "open container" law (supposedly to control drunks and winos) which is selectively enforced, while the dog law is completely ignored. Fine, run the lovely ladies off the beach and let the dogs bark and growl and hassle people. Dimwitted nitwits...

Take a walk on Hollywood beach and get mauled by a pit bull.

At least the bone headed morons in Miami-Dade county managed to have enough sense to ban pit bulls, but in Broward county they allow them to run free unleashed on Hollywood beach in violation of the dog beach restrictions. The above violation was not the right day, time, and well outside of the dog beach boundaries. And the pit bull is not even on a leash -- TWO violations, not counting public endangerment with a known vicious breed of dog... Certifiably ignorant! .

That knowing guilty look...

These people are a half mile outside the designated dog beach, and it is not a designated day, nor designated time. They are in clear violation of the dog law, yet they had the audacity to set up beach chairs and lounge the day away. Notice that the dogs don't even want to be there, they are forcing them into the water...

.

Signs at beach entrances make it very clear that dogs have no place on the beach outside of the designated area. Also note the sign indicating that down owners should pick up their dog's poop, but there are many dog owners that pay absolutely no attention to that law and leave the excrement in the open where it is immediately injected with eggs by flies, creating more flies. These pooperator people can be observed daily taking their dogs to open areas (not near where they live) specifically to make "dog deposits" in other people's yards, in natural areas, and even on the beach sand.

The arrogant jerk in the above video proudly gesticulates that he cheats on his taxes too...

.

Hollywood Beach has "gone to the dogs", literally, figuratively, and poopily...

The above video was captured on Easter Sunday, so the crowd was light; the typical crowds usually yields between fifty to one hundred dogs. Watch where you walk and best to stay out of the water anywhere near this area. The upside for the city of Hollywood doing this is that they charge admission, hopefully paying for the overtime of the park rangers that oversee the operation.

Nothing against nice friendly dogs, but you never see any canines on the beach in real life, naturally, and we feel that they would be best left to their inland habitats, and "dog parks" if owners want to doggedly socialize, which is all this is, a nice place for dog owners to interact at the expense of the naturalness of the beach...

Note that there is an ordinance that prohibits dogs on the beach (outside of the "dog beach" zone) with signs everywhere indicating that fact, yet people openly violate this law and are never ticketed by local law enforcement for the infraction. Contrast that with the same law enforcement officers that manage to "look the other way" for dog walkers that will ticket anyone that violates the "open container" law outside of the main broadwalk business area (where the same ordinance is still in effect but mostly ignored); they of course enforce this law selectively, in a "discriminatory" manner which is typical of the openly blatant corruption that seems inherent in the entire region...

The above video depicts just one of far too many examples of dog doodoo on the beach. Note that those inconsiderate dog owners that have the arrogant audacity to be defiant of the beach dog laws tend to also be the type of people that doesn't give a rat's butt about letting their mutts befoul the beach with their excrement and just leaving it there for you to step in. Of particular note, if you look closely, you can see little flies like house flies feasting on the poop and of course laying their eggs in it, which has been resulting in an increasingly larger fly population on the beach, such that a walk on the beach when their is very little breeze results in these little flies landing on you and biting you, not quite as severe as a deer fly bite, but nevertheless consider that these same flies that are biting you were born in dog poop and have very likely been mating and feasting in it recently. After the close up, the video pans out to the dog tracks for proof of deposit... Our bottom line is that if the law enFARCEment ticketed these jackass dog owners rather than ignore them, there would be less dogdoo and flies on the increasingly unhealthy fly and vermin infested beach...

.

Struttin the dog on the broadwalk... For obvious reasons , it is illegal to have dogs on the broadwalk as well as the beach. But the above video illustrates how the dog owners blatantly violate the ordinances prohibiting dogs on the broadwalk and how local law enFARCEment ignores the violations... We have observed that on rare occasions that the police will stop dog owners and "inform" them of the violation, without ticketing them, and the owners lie that they are unaware of the dog law, and then stroll off the broadwalk a block or two then just get right back on the broadwalk and keep strolling along...

.

Dognicking on the beach, how nice for them; "Oh Poopchie, did you poop in the spaghetti again, or is that meatballs"?

.

Strolling Dania Beach, no dogs allowed at all there, but they get away with it, because Dania Beach is patrolled by Hollywood dog ignoring policia-na-dosers...

.

This guy knew he was being observed, so he took the effort to brush a little, altho very little, sand over the dog's doodoo; just enough to hide it from the next person to walk along and step in the squishy sand...

.

This gal at least picked up her dogs poop, although it seems that dog owners know that when the dogs get on the sand it tends to quicken their urges and allows the owners to shorten their "dog walk" by letting them poop in the sand. However, we have observed that about two out of three dog owners doing this just leave the excrement on the sand...

.

Yep, that's a Rottweiler, and not on a leash, roaming free, at times well away from the owner...

. .

Unfortunately, we could continue to overload this webpage with hundreds of videos of dog law violations, but we have to minimize the number in order to avoid an extended load time for the webpage. We may make a few additions, but at this point, we feel that we have covered most violations, until we can catch the policionadoes ignoring violations, and of course there will eventually be an attack by a vicious dog... For now, consider the blatantly inconsiderate bone-headed-ness of dog owners that leave their dog's excrement on the beach and the fact that this problem is resulting in an increasingly burgeoning morass of hordes of flies that breed and lay their eggs in the dog excrement, resulting in an increasingly unhealthy environment for beach dwellers and beachgoers... Please sign the petitions at the top of this webpage so that we can attempt to draw attention to this problem.
