September 2010. Sorry Folks, but our video cam was accidentally dropped into the intracoastal waterway, so there will be no new videos posted until we can manage to save enough money to replace it, which in our situation may be never. Donations would help get the videos back sooner...

During the time we remain camera-less, you can watch the sunrise real time as it happens via the "space coast" website, up north a ways near the shuttle launch space station. They have an Atlantic beach webcam which the viewer can control to move the lens direction up or down or left or right. So, if you are up that early -- or any time of day of course -- you can check out their cam and see what's going on out over the Atlantic in real-time. Click on this link to go there (note that depending on the screen size of your computer, you may have to page down a little to see the webcam frame, and to control the cam you must click on the button at the lower right of the frame labeled "start control", then use the vertical and horizontal scroll bars to pan the cam).

So far this month of August, altho not as hot as usual, the weather conditions have been fairly normal on the southeastern coast of Florida with nice calm breezes. good for hydro-therapy in the peaceful ocean if you dare to immerse your body into the oily, predator-infested waters... A stormy sunrise, with the back-end of a "subtropical low" passing over us, stated to have a 50% chance of developing into tropical strength -- eventually to become tropical depression five (spending a few days in south Florida is depressing) and then tropical storm Danielle -- and modeled to head straight for the gulf oil volcano disaster area of course. This system developed directly to the east out in the Atlantic and has been very slowly struggling west into the Florida peninsula, bringing cloudy/rainy weather for the last few days with unusually cool temps for August, with highs in the upper 80's and lows mostly in the mid 70's, with a low down to 73 degrees a couple of days ago. Fairly delightful weather for the typically becalmed doldrums (windless), a.k.a. "dog days", of the "mean season", particularly when we look northward and see all of the "heat waves" scorching the country... June 30 2010 - A stormy Sunrise, just after a quiet torrential downpour, and just before a followup tropical thunderstorm. CNN indicated that this was the outermost "moisture band" from hurricane Alex which was hundreds of miles away roiling through the Bay of Camp-peachy... Another nice morning, a repeat of yesterday, calm, warm, quiet, mid 70's at sunrise... Another chilly sunrise with the temperature down to 57 degrees, but it was nice and calm and clear, plus the day ahead looks to be a clone of yesterday... A chilly sunrise with temperature at about 57 degrees, air was cold. Nice day ahead though with temps up into the mid 70's and sunny with light breezes... The sun riseth. Rare to be able to directly video the sun as it rises within twelve hours of doing the same as it settled upon the horizon yesterday evening at sunset. Usually when the sun is not behind or obscured to some extent by clouds, it is just too bright to capture with our camera. Anyway, nice and calm at sunrise, but temp was down into the upper 50's and a little chilly, but we are looking at a high of around 80 again today. Yesterday made it up to near mid 80 for a brief time with a little humidity, allowing us to go about scantily clothed for a change... Ahh, springtime is the re-emergence of bikini-time down here... ---------------- If you have questions, suggestions, or requests you may either send us an email at jeb@lifesacoast.com or leave a comment at the bottom of this webpage. Also, we have discovered another Hollywood Beach site that posts daily photos of the sunrise if you just want to check out what it looked like at sunrise on any given day. Here is a link to the site.
